How to Measure a 3-Sided Bunker Pile

With SR Measure you can easily perform measurements on material in a 3-Sided Bunker configuration where three sides are enclosed and one side is open.

Overview

3-Sided Bunker piles are commonly used in aggregate, ready-mix concrete, and materials handling operations. Three walls contain the pile while one side remains open for loading and unloading.

Measurement Instructions

1. Before you measure, set up the pile: its Storage Type is Bunker , and its bunker's Bunker Type is Three-Sided . Bunkers are available to group accounts with a Business subscription.
2. Make sure the bunker's dimensions are entered. The app uses the Wall Height , Left wall length, Right wall length, and Front corner to corner distance.
3. Open the pile in SR Measure and tap Measure Pile .
4. Stand at the front end of the left wall, with a clear view of the walls and the open front, then tap Start .
5. Follow the diagram on screen. When a wall is highlighted, aim at it and tap; it turns green when done. Walk as the diagram shows, keeping the pile in frame, and follow the Look up at the bunker and Look down at the bunker prompts.
6. Wait while the app shows Computing your pile volume. Keep the app open.
7. Review your volume and outline, then tap Save .

Tips for Accuracy

• Maintain consistent distance from the bunker
• Keep the phone level during measurements
• Ensure good lighting on all walls
• Avoid obstructions between camera and pile
• Walk at a steady, deliberate pace
