Updated on October 7, 2025
Learn how to tag and identify stockpiles in your aerial images for accurate measurement by the Stockpile Reports system.
Tagging Process
Before uploading your drone images, identify and note the locations of piles you want measured:
- Review your captured images on your computer
- Create a list of piles to be measured
- Note any identifying features or reference points
- If using mapping software, mark pile locations on the aerial image
In the Portal
After images are processed, you can tag piles directly in the web application:
- Open your processed aerial report
- Click on each pile in the image to create a measurement tag
- Name each pile for easy reference
- Specify the material type if applicable
- Confirm measurement boundaries
Best Practices
- Use consistent naming conventions for piles
- Tag all visible piles to maintain inventory accuracy
- Include reference points in your images for scale
- Document any special pile characteristics in notes
