2024 marked a milestone in our journey towards enabling companies to measure Every Pile, Any Time™. Stockpile Reports users measured more than 1 billion tons of material worldwide.
1 billion tons is more than just a number – it demonstrates the growing trust the bulk materials industry places in our digital measurement solutions and validates our mission of making digital measurement data accessible to everyone, anywhere.
The path to one billion tons measured has been extraordinary. We started in 2012 with the idea of using an iPhone to measure stockpiles. Launching the first version of the SR Measure app in 2013, it took 24 hours to process results for 20 stockpiles. Today, SR Measure operates in 130 countries across six continents, serving industries from construction and quarrying to waste management and landscape materials production and distribution. This global expansion has introduced advanced measurement solutions to regions that were previously reliant on traditionally inaccurate manual estimates and costly surveying methods.

Watch: Measurements globally over an average week.
A Year of Innovation
SR Measure app: We introduced on-device bunker measurements using an iPhone, enabling instant results for stockpiles stored against walls or in bins. This has been a major benefit for operations managers in the landscape materials, ready-mix, and asphalt industries.
Stockpile Reports for Business: Our new subscription tier is designed specifically for teams and small business measuring with iPhones. The Business subscription scales SR Measure company-wide, offering enhanced access to measurement data organized by products and sites in an easy to access online dashboard. With this launch, we now provide measurement solutions for every scale of operation – from individuals measuring occasional stockpiles, to small teams collaborating across multiple sites, all the way up to global enterprises managing bulk material supply chain operations
Every pile, Any time: By providing free and low-cost subscription plans, we’ve leveled the playing field for smaller operators, enabling them to make data-driven decisions that were once exclusive to companies with larger operating budgets.
Emergency response: This year, we’ve seen particularly strong adoption in the public sector, partnering with numerous state Departments of Transportation and Public Works Divisions to digitize winter salt inventory management for extreme weather and using SR Measure to measure debris during disasters. In addition to saving taxpayer dollars, innovation like storm mode, which allows a DOT to view salt shed supply on demand during a winter storm event, keep our public servants safe and reduce stress.
Industry Trends
The advancements with our SR Measure app isn’t just changing who can measure – it’s increasing the frequency and why measurements are taken. Our users have moved beyond traditional month-end inventory counts. Our data shows that users are measuring 2-5 times per week to support day-to-day operational decisions.

Contract Crushing: Companies are ditching the walking wheel during the bidding process. They are using SR Measure to get more accurate stockpile volumes to improve their bids and scoping of jobs. They’re also providing daily measurement updates to clients, ensuring transparent communication about project progress and faster invoicing and payment.
Landscape Materials: Daily measurements enable companies to understand and track mulch compaction rates over time. They’re also using measurements for delivery verification, leading to increased client satisfaction and fewer costly disputes.
Ready Mix: Operators are optimizing their supply chain by measuring on-hand inventory to precisely time material replenishment. Daily measurements also align perpetual inventory with physical inventory counts, reducing stockout risks and improving inventory accuracy.
Looking Ahead
For 2025, we are committed to our mission of measuring Every pile, Any time. We’re investing in next-generation AI capabilities to enhance measurement accuracy and expand our suite of measurement tools to serve specialized industry needs with new workflows and integration opportunities.
The journey to one billion tons measured represents countless individual measurements, each contributing to better stockpile management and operational efficiency. As we move forward, we thank our users who trust Stockpile Reports to help solve their problems measuring and managing stockpiles of bulk materials. Your feedback and support drive our innovation and fuel our mission to transform how the world measures stockpiles.
